work politicsThe SummitSubmitted by Mark on Mon, 11/12/2007 - 7:46pm.
By some strange combination of hard work, job politics, or maybe karma I was moved from the River Landing job to the Gateway job. This is the "The Summit" building in the Gateway development. It is not trim work; at least not yet. Huggins (our #2), told me he was moving me to this job because he felt like it wasn't moving fast enough and maybe I could move it along. He told me it was "my baby"; he forgot to tell the other two guys on the job. We worked through that and now I'm tired of hearing "hey, Mark...?" Four stories tall, commercial stories high; windows and doors on balconies; james hardie materials on much of the building. So I'm not doing trim, yet. I'm managing 5-7 men putting up Hardie material on a building that's had several problems. -mark

Looks like I've worked well enough on the River Landing job to be stuck there. Well maybe not; the two guys that are going to another job tomorrow are going to a job where they will be doing blocking for windows and coping on top of parapet walls. Not exactly trim work. I may be stuck there but I am doing trim work not framing work.
