Frosty Morning

I was awaken this morning by my wife, Shirrell, shaking me. "Mark, wake up! My car doors are frozen shut, I need help." Glance at the clock...5:45, oh gee! Shirrell works for Goody's in Elkin which is nearly an hours drive away.

"What's the temperature?"
"Oh this won't be too bad..."

Well another Thanksgiving Day has come and gone. Shirrell is closing her store today, Black Friday, for the third year in a row. She wasn't terribly happy about that.

She's not terribly happy with me either. I guess I really do need to do more around the house. I tend to sit in front of my computer for hours on end doing mostly nothing. Being unemployed is making me stir crazy; I'm just not used to sitting around the house all day.

An online friend of mine just had a birthday. Yes, you can have online friends that you've never met face to face. And he's bummed out because at 37 he's not accomplished anything.

My 37th was great as it was my first after my incarceration.

I suppose we each have our own expectations of our lives. Most likely instilled by our parents. I was expected to be the first to graduate from college, missed that one. So I disappointed someone important to me, my mother. My father was busy getting over being a drunk when I was looking at college choices.

I've decided to be determined to post here more often. Off to buy a door. The Drupal upgrade went well yesterday. I need to clean up some backups on the server and move on to version 6.

Well I went to the homedespot; bought an entry door, 9-lite two panel fir door. Took it to the customers house and it has too much glass. A 6-lite door would suit her better. Back to the homedespot; return door; wait for help; get help and no such door is available. Oh well, out $120 labor. I'm doing some calling around to see if I can find a door like what she wants.

We went back to work for a couple of months. Most of that work was in Old Salem and Salem College. Back on the dole now and 10 weeks of benefits left.

I've been doing some work on a friends rental house to get it ready to sell. So far being unemployed has been profitable. But the slow time of year is upon us.
