Have some fun today!

Bored

Submitted by Mark on Sun, 05/03/2009 - 8:37am.

My extended period of unemployment leaves me terribly bored on some days. I can always sit around and think about the things I ought to me doing.

One day I went hunting for some speech to text software for Linux and ended up finding a text to speech application named Festival. Since I've been playing around with screencasting too I had to make a little video of festival in action. Strange I know...it's the bored thing ;-)

Bump

Submitted by Mark on Mon, 04/13/2009 - 4:59pm.

The promised bump from the Feds kicked in last week.

Odd thing is it, the $25/wk raise from the Feds, isn't showing up on the NCESC website or when I call the toll free number for the card. Makes me wonder about the tax situation for that extra money. It's taxable.

Shirrell

Shirrell rocks my world!

She's been out 6, maybe 8 weeks and now she has a job with Rose's. Now that I've done some research on the company she has gone to work for I find that they are the "right knights of NC"!

The CEO is known for his right wing political activities in our fine state of NC. She will have to keep her left wing opinions to herself.

She has sat here and made a two to three page list of all the things the store she has started in is doing wrong by her standards.

She isn't willing to share these notes now.

People

Damn People, I mean what do they think? I, or we, gave a quote for a 18 to 15 feet by 12 feet wide deck out to an above ground pool.

$4000 for labor and materials which is a _very reasonable price. When we got the framing out to the pool we realized it would make a very small entry area to the pool. So we suggested making the deck longer, out to 22 feet, so there would be a bigger opening to the pool. The female side of the home owners agreed.

RHCT

Submitted by Mark on Sat, 02/28/2009 - 8:42am.

I'm now an official RHCT! I passed the test yesterday in Raleigh.

For full disclosure it was my second try in a weeks time.

I bombed out on my first try on something fairly simple that a linux system admin should know how to do. Well I didn't really bomb out on that one, I got it done it just took too long so I timed out on the fourth and final problem.

This time I studied more and was more relaxed even though I was twenty minutes late for the start of the test.
